FTSE 100 index tracking the 100 largest companies on the London Stock Exchange.
The UK100 (FTSE 100) tracks the 100 largest companies listed on the London Stock Exchange by market capitalisation. It is notably international in character; many FTSE 100 companies generate the majority of their revenues outside the UK, in sectors such as oil & gas, mining, banking, and consumer staples. As a result, the index often benefits when the pound weakens, since overseas earnings are worth more in sterling terms. BoE policy, UK economic data, commodity prices, and global risk sentiment are the key drivers.
