The EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) is the first comprehensive crypto-asset regulatory framework for the European Union, fully applicable from December 2024. MiCA introduces authorisation requirements for crypto-asset service providers (CASPs), stablecoin issuers, and exchanges operating in any of the 27 EU member states. MiCA-authorised exchanges benefit from an EU-wide passport and must maintain capital reserves, segregate client assets, and provide transparent disclosures - bringing crypto regulation to a standard broadly comparable to MiFID II for traditional financial instruments.

MiCA is based in European Union and covers the European Union jurisdiction. As a Tier 1 regulator, it enforces strict capital adequacy, client fund segregation, and compensation schemes, making it one of the safest options for retail traders.
Visit the official MiCA website and use their public register or licence verification tool. Enter the broker's registered name or licence number to confirm its status. This is the most reliable way to check a broker's regulatory standing.
Compensation availability depends on the specific rules of MiCA in European Union. Tier 1 regulators typically operate investor compensation schemes covering a portion of client funds. Check the regulator's official guidance for current limits and eligibility criteria.
